University of Charleston

University of Charleston is a privately owned university established in the year 1888 with two campuses, situated on the banks of Kanawha River in Charleston and Beckley in the U.S state of West Virginia. The University was initially founded as Barboursville Seminary and later came to be known as Morris Harvey College in 1901 and was finally renamed University of Charleston in 1978.

The University of Charleston offers associate, undergraduate and graduate programs. It gets overall recognition from the Higher Learning Commission. The University has a total enrollment of 2,620 students comprising 1,882 undergraduates and 738 graduates representing 44 countries as of Spring 2019. Following a semester-based academic calendar, the university has a selective admission procedure with an acceptance rate of 50% (Fall 2019).
